About Rainshadow Drent Puppies

Rainshadow pups playing in the yard
We only breed a litter occasionally and normally it is for the purpose of keeping a puppy and improving upon the traits that we currently see in our dogs. We breed in accordance with DPCNA standards and strive to maintain diversity in the breed. Our dogs are family members first and foremost, but they are also excellent hunting companions.
Each litter of puppies is raised in our home and given the utmost care. While here they are exposed to a variety of sounds and environments. Once old enough, they take daily trips outside to play and are rotated throughout the family room where they learn about being a "big dog" in the house :) They are also exposed to birds, gunfire, go on car rides, and are introduced to water (weather and temperatures allowing). We evaluate temperament, bird drive, and conformation (structure) when the pups are 7.5 weeks old. New families pick up their pups when they are between 8-10 weeks old.
Important Information to Keep in Mind:
* We DO NOT ship puppies. All puppies must be picked up at our home in Sequim, WA
* We do not allow future owners to "pick" their puppy. Their is no preference order. We will take a waiting list, and then based upon sex preference and family dynamics, we will decide where our puppies will be going. Because we temperament test and evaluate structure at 7.5 weeks, all placement decisions will be made at that time.....although families will be notified shortly after birth if they are indeed getting a puppy so travel arrangements can be made.

Travel Information
* we prefer that all puppy buyers come the day before pick-up to sign paperwork and interact with the dogs and the puppies. This makes it easier on everyone. Then, then day of pickup can be much quicker. We will have your travel bag ready to go with all the necessary health paperwork
* if you live close and feel you can do the trip in 1-day, then please plan to allow at least 2 hours at our home
Visiting Guidelines
* we do not allow visits with the puppies until they are 4.5 weeks old
